Traces ↬ 6-10 June 2014

To create is to give life - and be tied to - an eternal entity.
While Western science is premised on an opposition between spirit and matter,
our existences becomes less tangible as we increasingly express our lives in intangible spaces.

As we become more engaged with digital interfaces, we must pose the question:
is immortality still the revival and restoration of physical objects and artistic representations?
Or have we moved into a place where physicality is not the only way of being present?

Mortal as we are, developments in technology facilitate an expanding discourse of the perennial.
What are we to make of the singularity movement?

It might be logical to disregard such theories as science fictional lore,
but considering the Orwellian time that we’ve conformed to and perversely found comfort in,
it is our belief that artists have a responsibility to explore these theories from their own perspectives.
