The journey of THE GATE pushes us to come to the edge, to experience a spiritual presence that calls for change. To pass through the threshold of our fears of the unknown in order to embody the life waiting for us on the other side. This is a journey of ultimate transformation.

THE GATE was originally performed for the camera and captured in 360˚ video August 2017 at MANA Contemporary’s 30,000 ft2 Glass Gallery with a cast of 20 dancers in full costume.

This most recent incarnation of the RIPENING series (original concept by Vanessa Walters), previews exclusively on February 7th at Norwood, a unique club for New York’s creative & arts communities. This site specific, pop-up installation of THE GATE will feature a series of video diptychs designed by TAXIPLASM × George Del Barrio to create a threshold, or GATE, to physically traverse before arrival into VR space. From youth to old age, faces of all genders and races will be starkly projected in profile, a thin coat of white ash passing across one face to another in a spiritual dialogue through time.
