A mechanical is a proofing tool, typically used to explore the form, content, and flow of a printed piece prior to a full print run.

“The Mechanical” was the first artifact created in the wake of “Masters”; it blossoms from two months of immersion in Cambodia’s rich, beautiful culture.

The text, design, photographs, and innovative construction of this energetic book-sculpture are by George Del Barrio. The Mechanical reflects on the experience of crafting an iconography, and it intimately presents Cambodia’s complex beauty.

Every Mechanical is printed to 190GSM archival paper and bound by Hanna Vandenbulcke-Diaz; the 2011 edition is limited to 50 copies. Please allow two weeks for construction prior to shipping.
